How to Create a Knowledge Base

Setting up your Knowledge Base with Can Do takes only a few minutes. Once connected, everything you write in Basecamp's Docs & Files is published automatically, without additional tools, all within the tool you already use.

    To create a Knowledge Base

    • Go to the CMS tab and click Create. In the dropdown menu, select Knowledge base.
    • You go straight to the creation screen, with two steps:
      • Find your project: Search for the Basecamp project where your documentation is or where you're going to create your documentation.
      • Select the Docs & Files tool: Choose the Docs & Files from that project that you want to publish.
    • Click Create.

If there's no Docs & Files in the project:

If the project doesn't have a Docs & Files yet, Can Do will give you the option to create one right there.

    • When you get to step 2 Select the Docs & Files tool, type a name for your Docs & Files and click Create. It will be created directly in your Basecamp project without having to leave Can Do.

Note: If you don't see the Docs & Files you're looking for in the list, it's probably already connected to another Knowledge Base, as each Docs & Files can only be linked to one.

As soon as you create it, you'll go straight to its settings page.

What happens next is automatic. Can Do starts pulling your documents, you'll see a progress bar while it builds. While that finishes, you can complete the profile:

    • Icon & Name: Add an image and type the name of your Knowledge Base.
    • Description: Add a short summary of what it covers (maximum 175 characters).

Once Can Do finishes bringing all your content, the Knowledge Base publishes itself and you receive an email with the link. You can also copy it from there in the Preview URL section.

Password, custom domain, and the call to action button (Call to action) are configured from the same page.
