Using a Custom Domain on your Blog

By default, your Blog lives at an address like public.getcando.com. If you prefer to use your own domain, you can do so, but you need to know this before you start:

    • Note: Custom domains work only on Pro and Business; if your account is on Solo you can save the domain but it won't work.

    How to set it up:

    • Enable Enable custom domain in the "Custom domain" section and enter your domain (for example, blog.yourcompany.com). You don't need to include https:// or www. Can Do removes them automatically.
    • Go to where you manage your domain's DNS (GoDaddy, Namecheap, or wherever you purchased it) and add this record:
    • Type

      Name / Host

      Value

      TTL

      CNAME

      blog.yourcompany.com

      public.getcando.com

      Auto

    • DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to take effect, depending on your provider. Therefore, you should keep an eye on it.

Your original link at public.getcando.com continues to work even after setting up a custom domain, think of the custom domain as an additional entry, not a replacement.

    Notes:

    • The same domain can only be used in one Blog, Knowledge Base, Roadmap, or Form at a time. If you see an error saying it's already in use, check that you don't have it set up elsewhere within Can Do.
    • If you disable "Enable custom domain", your saved password will also be deleted, if you had one. You'll need to set it up again if you want to reactivate password protection.
    • If you delete the domain you added, after refreshing you'll have the default URL that Can Do provides.
