How to Archive Messages (Archive > Messages)

If you have many messages on a Message Board in a project that are no longer as relevant, this tool is ideal for archiving the ones you need quickly. These messages are archived, they are not deleted from your Basecamp Message Board.

The Messages tool lets you archive one or multiple messages from a Basecamp Message Board without opening each one individually and performing the action.

How to do it from Can Do:

    • Go to the Tools tab, then select Messages within Archive.
    • Find your project: Search for the project where the messages you want to archive are located.
    • Select a message board: Choose which Message Board you want to archive messages from. This applies if you have many Message Boards in your project.
    • Select messages: All messages from that Message Board will appear.
      • Select them all with Select all, or check the box for each one individually.
      • You can also sort them by Newest firstOldest first, or Alphabetically (A-Z) if the list is long.
    • Click on Archive.

Note: If the selected project does not have a Message Board, Can Do will notify you. In that case, you will have the option to click on Open in Basecamp, which will open your project directly so you can add the Message Board.

    Keep this in mind:

    • Archiving is not deleting. Your messages are safely stored in the Basecamp archive, but restoring them can only be done from Basecamp directly, not from Can Do.
    • Only the messages you select are archived; the rest stay exactly where they are and will continue to appear on the project's Message Board.
    • It's ideal for keeping a Message Board cleaner by archiving messages that are no longer relevant to your project.
