Companion updates itself automatically. When there's a new version, it downloads and installs it without you having to manually download anything again.
Automatic updates
The app checks for a new version from time to time. When it finds one, it offers you to install it; when you accept, it updates and restarts itself.
Check for updates manually
If you want to check right now, use Check for Updates (from Settings or by searching for it in the Launcher). It will tell you if you're already up to date or offer you the new version.

Note: after updating, some macOS permissions may ask you to grant them again. If something stopped working after updating, check "Reset a permission that stopped working".
