Sometimes, after updating the app, a permission you had already granted (such as Accessibility or Automation) stops working, even though it appears enabled in System Settings. This is a known macOS behavior: when the version changes, the app gets a different "fingerprint" and the previous permission no longer matches.
Restart and re-grant
- Open Settings → Permissions.
- For the affected permission, use Reset & re-grant.
- The app restarts and asks for the permission again. Accept it.
This will properly link the permission to the new version again.

Note: if it still doesn't work, remove Companion from the permission list in System Settings, add it again, and restart the app.
